What is CoolSculpting?
“If you can squeeze it, we can freeze it!”
Seriously, it’s that simple.
CoolSculpting is the #1 choice for non-surgical fat reduction.
CoolSculpting is an FDA cleared, non-invasive option to get rid of unwanted fat. CoolSculpting’s unique process of isolating fat and exposing it to intense, controlled cold temperatures destroys fat cells without damaging surrounding tissues. Fat cells then die off in a period of about 12 weeks. This process naturally flushes these unwanted cells away through your lymphatic system.
Fat cells are permanently gone – they do not come back. Your body has a determined number of fat cells which expand and contract with weight gain or loss. CoolSculpting actually reduces the number of fat cells in your body – for good!
Is CoolSculpting for me?
Wondering if you are even a candidate for CoolSculpting? Some assume they don’t have enough fat, while others assume they have too much. CoolSculpting is a procedure that sculpts your body to help your body’s shape appear leaner and smoother by removing areas of stubborn fat. A combination of weight loss and CoolSculpting can help you to achieve the results you are looking for even faster.
There are different sizes and shapes of applicators that your provider can use to customize your treatment plan. Pretty much any area of unwanted fat can be treated, but the most commonly treated areas are:
If you choose to move forward with a CoolSculpting consultation, some questions you might ask (and Complexions’ answers) are listed below.
Does the provider have the right kind of training? Is the provider continually updating his or her technique?
Complexions: YES! Our providers are continually learning techniques and best practices to deliver the most effective and comfortable treatment experience.
Is a free consultation provided?
Complexions: YES! We are confident in our provider and the procedure and are eager to share the excitement with you…free of charge.
Does the practice have the latest in CoolSculpting technology? Some offices have outdated technology that takes twice as long and the procedure is much less comfortable.
Complexions: YES! We have two of the most recently available machines, and we can even “dual sculpt” two areas simultaneously.
What happens if I am dissatisfied with my CoolSculpting results?
Complexions: We are confident in our provider’s ability to select candidates that will see a benefit to the treatment. We will be honest with you if we think you will not achieve the results you are looking for.
No, not much! You have already chosen your provider and agreed on a treatment plan. If you are a few pounds above where you want to be, you might choose to continue working on that to achieve your best CoolSculpting results.
When you arrive for your CoolSculpting treatment at Complexions, you will be brought into the CoolSculpting treatment room and usually will change into either a wrap or a robe, depending on the area being treated. You will be measured and before photographs will be taken. You will then be able to make yourself comfortable with pillows and/or blankets. Tip: Bring warm socks – we find that clients like to keep their feet warm during the procedure.
You will have an over-bed tray table to place any belongings on that you plan to use during your treatment. You can also have a light beverage or a light snack. Please ask your provider to grab a water or seltzer whenever you wish – they are happy to oblige.
Your provider will then begin the process of preparing your skin for the applicator while explaining what is going to happen and what it might feel like. The vacuum suction can feel a bit odd and tickly. When the cold sensation starts it certainly feels, well, COLD! There is an anesthetic affect with the cold where the treated area feels numb. This happens fairly quickly, and it is usually not too uncomfortable. Then you will settle in with a movie or any other media you enjoy while your treatment progresses. The provider will not usually stay in the room during your procedure, but you will have a call button and the provider has a beeper that delivers treatment progress so they can monitor you.
When the treatment period is over, your provider will release the vacuum suction to your skin and immediately begin to massage the treated area for 2 minutes. This part may be a bit uncomfortable depending on the treatment area, and it is a vigorous massage that finishes with massage in a circular motion. As your tissue begins to warm up to your normal body temperature, you might feel a tingly sensation. This is similar to how it feels after your hands are exposed to frigid weather and you put them under warm water, for instance. It can be an odd sensation, but it is not usually painful. The massage process is absolutely crucial to the effectiveness of the procedure, and can increase the results by more than 25%.
You will then be provided with wet face cloths warmed in a towel warmer to clean your skin, and dry towels to dry off with. Depending on your treatment area and your comfort level, the provider may be able to assist with this process. As we said, CoolSculpting can get a little “sticky” so at this point, you will be happy you brought a change of underwear and/or clothing!
The next few hours you will notice a numb feeling with or without some localized soreness. It feels similar to what a bruise might feel like. This is completely normal and expected.
Now it’s time to sit back and let CoolSculpting do it’s magic. You will return in 12 weeks for a follow up appointment where new photographs and measurements will be taken. Depending on the progress, you may wish to have additional treatment, or you may wish to tackle a new area. Celebrate your results!
